Liverpool reject Huddersfield move for goalkeeper Danny Ward

Liverpool have rejected Huddersfield’s offer to re-sign goalkeeper Danny Ward after his successful loan spell last season, sources close to the clubs have told ESPN FC.

Huddersfield enquired if they could sign Ward on a permanent basis, but Liverpool have informed the Premier League new boys that the keeper is not for sale.

Ward spent all of last season on loan at Huddersfield and was their hero in the penalty shootout wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Reading in the Championship playoffs to send the club to the Premier League.

The Wales international was keen to return to Huddersfield next season for regular first-team football if he found himself down the pecking order at Liverpool.

However, Liverpool have blocked a possible move for Ward, for now, with Jurgen Klopp keen to have the goalkeeper back at Anfield to compete for his place in the team.

Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are the No. 1 and No. 2 goalkeepers respectively at Liverpool, but Klopp is ready to give Ward the chance to stake his claim for the goalkeeper’s jersey in preseason.

Liverpool are looking for goalkeeping reinforcements as last season’s No. 3 keeper Alex Manninger announced his retirement last month.

He deserves a chance and would be wales no 1 keeper soon.

  • Riiseandshine

He’ll go to Huddersfield on loan

  • 44yearsAfan

Just read aubameyang is back on the market as PSG have pulled the plug on the deal. Now if we were in need of a striker this kid would defo be top of the list imo

    • Ian96

This is the guy I want most at Liverpool this summer. We need to prioritize this lad, sign him and then look to other signings, like left back and defence, but if we can get this fella it will be a huge coupé

      • 44yearsAfan

This would be a massive coup for us and finally show the intent we have been wittering on about forever. Gotta go get him if he really is available, spread the word till it reaches Klopp and co’

        • Ian96

Yep mate, he would be a huge show of intention and the kind of players we want to sign to allow our club to progress in the right direction.
This is a guy we really need to sign.

        • Srinivas

Haha… Klopp would be the first to know if he were available!!!
But yeah signing him would be a massive coup..
4231.. with auba Phil Bobby mane would be devastating!!!

Danny is going to be a great no’2 to Cassilas this coming season, sorry migs you have done better but not good enough and agree with tbone loan Karius out and then he and Danny can fight it out for the following season

    • Drewster

Do you really think Klopp would buy Casillas unless it was a mentoring role like Manninger with not much game time. In theory a goalkeeper could play all the games in a season (league and all cups) if he wasn’t injured. How many keepers do we need? Two max plus a jnr if we get injuries

      • 44yearsAfan

Dunno what Klopp would do. Hes about as predictable as a woman chosing an outfit. Agree with you but there is always a possibilty

  • Tbone187

    Loan ém Karius instead?

    • Ian96

      Good idea

  • Ian96

I am hoping Danny ends the season as our established number 1 keeper. Let’s hope Kloppo gives him the opportunity he deserves.

    • 44yearsAfan

After his heroics for huddersfield Klopp surely cant ignore the performances he has put in

      • Ian96

Exactly, he is quality and yes we need to take care of him, by not throwing him in at the deep end, but we need to utilise this lad in the coming season. It took Clemo a couple of years to establish himself and displace ” the flying pig” but establish he did. To this day he was and is our best keeper.

        • 44yearsAfan

If the Casillas rumours are true then bye bye migs and the 2 young uns can battle for no’2. Id be happy with that for next season, on another note, Aubameyang is back on the market as PSG have pulled the plug on the deal

          • Ian96

            Yep, agree there mate.

          • Stan Dinaround

Casillas last WC was shockin, and so too alot of his performances at Real just before they forced him out.. He may well have been up there, but no way is he No.1 material over any of our three present options.

          • 44yearsAfan

Im just going off the speculation stan, i never rated him in his hey day but he seems to have got better this last 2 years strangely enough and if rumours are true then given his over hyped status he may well be our no’1.

          • Stan Dinaround

            Effin hope not mate…

          • 44yearsAfan

I dont get it myself but if its true then 4 into 2 doesnt go. so who will go ? I think he is at least equal to migs in every dept and maybe leaving madrid has helped him as there is less pressure to perform at Porto
