Ryan Kent signs new long-term Liverpool deal

The 20-year-old has committed his future to the Reds by putting pen to paper on the deal at Melwood.

The news comes after an impressive pre-season campaign with the first team for Kent, during which he figured in seven of the club’s eight friendly fixtures.

Kent told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s a big achievement. It’s pay off for all the hard work that’s been put in over the last few years, so it’s a big achievement for me, my mum, my dad, my family and friends that have been with me throughout this big journey. I’m looking forward to kicking on in the future now.

“It was an easy decision. I am with a manager here that is willing to play young players and invest his time into my progression as a player.

“Liverpool has the right foundations to make me a good player in the future.”

Kent, an England U20 international, has made one competitive appearance for Liverpool, coming in an FA Cup third-round tie with Exeter City in January 2016.

The Academy graduate, who joined the Reds at the age of seven, spent last season on loan at Barnsley, while he has also previously had a temporary stint with Coventry City.

Well deserved, lad. Continue improving. Good wide man in the making!

  • Kylian Mmmbopp

I can decipher his contract on the table showing £75,000, just below the tattoo.

I just cant tell if it is per week, per month or per game

  • Drewster

Hope they keep him with the squad now, as I think that will benefit him (and us) more than a loan would.

Get in Ryan. Get in son, now kick some scum assses

  • Riiseandshine

Trying to think of my all time LFC PL eleven..because I’m bored.

He has been the most improved from last year. I expected Trent to step up as well as Woodburn and Ejaria had a really good pre-season last time around but Kent really put his hand up this time around. I like him and think he has a great future

  • RedNeve

So impressed with him in pre-season.
    Good for him.

  • OldFlaky

We have some special kids in Kent, Wilson and Woodburn…

Octagon ring, 1 knife…. Harry Wilson vs Ojo vs Kent show down

  • Great news. Kent’s been truly impressive.

  • RobbieTheReindeer

    Next Reus :p

    • But hopefully without the injuries 😉

      • gegenpressing

Maybe Kent is Reus without the injuries…

  • OldFlaky

    Congratulations Kent, well deserved!

  • Saravana Kumar

Keep up the good work… boy…u will be hell of a player….
    Under Klopp’s guidance…u won’t go wrong.
He has improved so much….It’s time to show some talent… get some first team game and u will be ready for next season….

  • He’s going to be some player for us.

    • gegenpressing

Maybe though he still has a lot of developing to do…

  • Riiseandshine

It’s almost like he’s a new signing!!!! 😂 Good wee player though. Any sign of Emre putting pen to paper?

    • Quicky Zebra

I’m hoping Kent does not get loaned out. The perfect backup winger behind Salah and Mane.

With regards to Can, Juve seems to have given up hope on signing him. Not sure if it’s because Can has committed to a new contract.

      • Riiseandshine

Maybe they’re keeping the Can contract as good publicity after we make no more signings

      • gegenpressing

A little sceptical because Klopp has a history of players running down their contracts (not sure he cares too much as long as the players give their all while they are around)

        • globalcockup

Not that I’m anti fsg ( at the moment) but they won’t like contracts been run down one bit!

          • gegenpressing

Yeah but Klopp has the power to make them stay till the end, especially if they refuse to sign a new one…

          • globalcockup

So 5 more years of Continho 😀

          • Drewster

            Id be happy with that
