Liverpool ‘ready to break the bank’ for Marco Asensio

The season of nonsense has truly begun huh?

That’s because according to reports by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Reds are looking to recruit the Real Madrid starlet this summer. It is claimed that they’ve tabled a bid of £158 million for the youngster, which if accepted, would be a British transfer record.

However, another source from Gol Digital has claimed that rivals Manchester United will launch their own bid for the Spaniard in the coming weeks.

Either way, both sources should be taken with a pinch of salt. While the 22-year old had only started 28 games last season, it is unlikely that the Los Blancos would allow such a talented player to depart. Furthermore, Asensio has 5 years remaining on his current contract, which also includes a €700 million buy-out clause.

With incoming Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui a big fan of the talented playmaker, there’s no reason for Asensio to leave Bernabeu. Thus, it’s best that fans shelve this rumour in the bin.
