Liverpool suffer new goalkeeper injury blow ahead of new season

Goalkeeper Shamal George has announced he will be out for a month with an elbow injury.

And it leaves Klopp with just Simon Mignolet and Alex Manninger as his fit senior keepers ahead of next week’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.

George wrote on Twitter: “Out injured for four weeks unfortunately; ligament damage in my elbow.

“Hoping for a fast recovery and a good season.”

George, 18, impressed for Liverpool’s academy last season and had been part of the senior squad’s pre-season preparations, going on the recent tour of the USA.

He made his first-team debut in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield, although it was as an emergency striker rather than between the sticks after Lucas Leiva was forced off injured and he was the only substitute remaining.

      1. Could this be the single most ironic moment in Liverpool history? It would be a certain contender!

  1. I got a hunch that migs is behind all this to surely secure a 1st team spot; you know, mafia style :). Next is manninger 🙂 lol
