Sadio Mane taken to hospital after suffering shoulder injury!

Reds left sweating on fitness of new £30m signing after Melwood collision

Sadio Mane has handed Liverpool an injury scare by being sent to hospital after damaging his shoulder during training.

The Senegal striker has undergone scans at the Spire in South Liverpool to further assess the problem, which he suffered in a collision at Melwood this morning.

The Reds are waiting to discover the extent of the injury with Jurgen Klopp now sweating on the fitness of the £30million man for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Burnley.

Having impressed during pre-season, Mane enjoyed a hugely impressive Liverpool debut at Arsenal last Sunday, the highlight of which was a blistering solo goal to help earn a thrilling 4-3 win.

Mane spoke afterwards of the strong team spirit that has helped him settle quickly at his new club.

“There’s a very good team spirit and the coach is trying to help us give our best,” he said. “I think this is important.

“I’m close with everyone. I’m just trying to give what I can. I’m impressed by them because we have a great team with big quality.”

  1. “Press Association Sport understands the Senegalese had scans following a collision at training and the verdict is the type of injury is a muscle one, rather than a dislocation.

It would still seem to put Mane’s involvement against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday in doubt but it looks as though the former Southampton forward has avoided an injury which could keep him out for the long term.”

  2. We should take a good look at our squad. When it comes to attacking, we have a pool full of talent. We shouldn’t depend on a single player to change games. We have several players who can do that. But, as I said in the past, players like Firmino, Couts, Lallana, Can, Origi, Studge have to step it up and show their potential on a regular basis. That is the only way we’re gonna get consistent as a team and actually compete for titles this season. Burnley will be a massive game for us. We need to show our quality for more than 20 minutes. If we will win at Turf Moor in a convincing way, then that will be a milestone and a big boost for the squad in terms of their belief in performing consistently. We’re on a high at the minute because we beat Arsenal at the Emirates in a rollercoaster thrill ride, but as Liverpool have proven for the last few years now, we usually followed a high with a low-blow. So this game is key! Come on Reds! Fight for the win at Turf Moor! YNWA!

  3. I’m not worried about the Burnley-game, because I trust Origi. I hope Mane is ready for the Chelsea-game and in worst case, no later then we host the manure…

          1. Well what do you do when a bird shits on you?

Either don’t take her out again or pay her extra.

Seriously though it’s just a saying to make the person that got shit on feel better.

    1. He’ll be fine and more importantly: we’ll be fine. Origi on the win, Lallana on the wing, Markovic on the wing.

      We’ll be fine.

    2. Those damn self driving cars of nowadays have you fooled Joe 🙂 Hope it’s not to big of a deal though.

  4. And we got Chelsea, Leicester, Manure coming up.
Great. At least, we’ll see if the team is able to compensate for this loss.

  5. Yap. Liverpool in full display.
It says, if you celebrate too early, life always gives you a knock.
In this case, If you’re Liverpool, life eventually gives you a knock.

    1. Sigh. On the positive side, this can be Markovic’s chance to prove himself. Millie or Lallana are not so fast on the right. Firmino is such a good Treat in the middle. What to do what to do.

      1. Markovic might get a run out against Burton in the cup but don’t think we’ll see him against Burnley.
With Can returning he may just put him in and move Lallana up, or change it about with Origi or Studge etc who will likely get the nod ahead of Markovic in the Prem

    2. Thats it were done pack up shop may as well close down the site!! On the other hand it may not be to bad and we do have other players 🙂
