Coutinho Doubtful for Southampton Clash After Hospital Spotting

Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho may have to sit out the Reds’ trip to Southampton on Saturday with injury.

The Brazilian, who has just returned to England after featuring for his country on international duty, was reportedly spotted at Liverpool’s Spire Hospital on Thursday afternoon after undergoing a scan, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Coutinho featured in Brazil’s World Cup qualifying games against Argentina and Peru, which would have Liverpool fans worried with players picking up injuries while on international duty remaining a hot topic lately.

Coutinho and compatriot Roberto Firmino were present at Melwood on Thursday but neither player took part in training, but that is more likely due to recovery needed after their long trip back from South America.

Klopp may have a selection headache should Coutinho miss the game, with the German coach already set to miss the services of Adam Lallana after the midfielder hobbled out of England’s friendly draw with Spain on Tuesday night.

The Reds boss may hand starts to Georginio Wijnaldum and Daniel Sturridge as a result.
