Danny Ings will return for pre-season
England frontman stepping up rehab – but won’t play again this season
Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool striker Danny Ings has his sights set on a return to training in pre-season as he looks to put his injury nightmare behind him.
The England international has been sidelined since suffering ligament damage to his right knee in the EFL Cup win over Tottenham last October.
Ings also missed most of the 2015/16 campaign after tearing the ACL in his left knee and has been limited to just 11 appearances for the Reds since signing from Burnley in July 2015.
The 24-year-old frontman has been stepping up his rehabilitation since undergoing surgery in London in November but there’s no chance he will feature for Liverpool again this term.
Ings was initially ruled out for around seven and nine months, and he’s focused on getting himself fit for the 2017/18 campaign.
“Danny is not fit. He’s in a good way but it will take time,” Klopp said.
