Lovren to play for the U23s tonight

Defender Dejan Lovren will play for Liverpool’s U23 team tonight (Monday) vs Chelsea.

The Croatian centre-back missed games against Hull, Spurs and Leicester due to a knee problem for which he required the services of a specialist in Germany. After that he was an unused substitute in the 3-1 win over Arsenal, but he injured his back in training last week and was therefore left out of contention for the game against Burnley yesterday.

However, Lovren is determined to prove his fitness ahead of the Manchester City showdown this Sunday, and he has therefore been included in the U23 team for the game against Chelsea.
