Sunday Live Game Cafe!

Welcome again, friends.

Today is the day Liverpool could take their chances of a top four finish to the level of extremely high probability, almost certainty should they win at the Hawthorns. A convincing win over Bournemouth yesterday by Spurs has kept up the pressure on league leaders Chelsea, and now Antonio Conte’s side need to win today at Old Trafford. Otherwise they could become anxious over the title which so far looked all but won. And a Chelsea victory would of course mean a Manchester United defeat, and that, coupled with a Liverpool win, would give the Reds a nine point lead over their archrivals, and even the devils’ two games in hand wouldn’t be of much help. Remember, one of those is against City at the Etihad.

Let’s take a look at the results of the games played yesterday, and the table as it now stands:

And now, let’s get to the games.

13:30 BST (14:30 CET)

West Bromwich Albion vs Liverpool

Once again it’s our beloved Tony Pulis and his horde of ruffians the Reds are facing. It is said Liverpool have never beaten a Tony Pulis side away from Anfield. Well, time to break that tradition. We all know their game, we all know our game, so I won’t be talking about tactics or strategies. Let’s just scream “Liverpool” as loud as we can.

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis says one or two unnamed players are nursing bruises and will be assessed ahead of the visit of Liverpool.

Should they be passed fit, the Baggies will have a fully-fit squad on Sunday.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects injured midfielders Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana to return before the end of the month.

Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho should be recalled to the starting XI after being substitutes against Stoke.

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis: “The target is to get as many points as we can. And we want performances. We want the players to go out and put good performances in.

“It’s going to be a really tough game because they have a lot to play for.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “West Brom have all our respect and all our concentration.

“We will try to be at our best. West Brom have had an outstanding season. Last two or three matches they didn’t score but (that’s) nothing we should think about.

“Maybe they are the most experienced team in the Premier League. [They have] a lot of things that cause us problems.”

16:00 BST (17:00 CET)

Manchester United vs Chelsea

Goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to start for Manchester United after missing out against Sunderland with a hip problem and only making the substitutes’ bench against Anderlecht.

Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young are back in training after respective ankle and groin injuries and might be involved.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has a full-strength squad and could name an unchanged side.

Cesc Fabregas and Willian are the most likely of any players to earn a recall.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on Chelsea: “It’s not for no reason that they are top of the league.

“It’s not just because they’re fresh but they have individual quality and they have collective quality.

“They have a certain style of play, they stick to it, they do it very well.

“For me, it is just a game. One more game. No difference for me.”

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte: “I have zero problems [with Mourinho]. It’s only a sporting competition between him and me.

“There is a game of football. I want to try and win with my team. He wants to try and win with his team. It’s normal to be at conflict during the game, but only a sporting conflict.”

To everybody celebrating today, we wish you a happy Easter, and hope you spend most of the day with your families and friends. Still, find a way to watch the game if you can and banter away in the comment section below.

Up the Reds!
