Lazar Markovic’s Liverpool career over after Jurgen Klopp’s latest comments

It’s the end of the road for Markovic – if Liverpool can find a buyer

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Lazar Markovic’s Liverpool career is effectively over.

The Serbian winger featured in the opening friendly of the summer against Tranmere but was left out of the squad for the tour of Hong Kong.

Markovic cost Liverpool £20million from Benfica three years ago but made just 34 appearances for the club.

He had loan spells at Sporting Lisbon and Hull City last season and now the Reds are looking to off-load him on a permanent basis.

“With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate. It was like this last year too,” Klopp told the ECHO.

“He’s a really good player. I like him as a person.

“He’s now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I’ve known him.

“Before he had problems with his groin but now he’s good. There will be a club out there who needs him.”
