Liverpool are close to signing Andy Robertson

According various relatively reliable sources, including Liverpool Echo and The Guardian, the deal for Andy Robertson, believed to be in the region of £8 million, is close to being completed.

The 23-year old left back has been linked with Liverpool for a while now, and it seems the deal is about to get done. A decent left back will certainly be a welcome addition to the squad, though it will not happen in time for the Scottish international to join the Reds on their Sunday trip to Asia.

Robertson arrived to Hull City in 2014 for a fee of £2.85m, and he has been one of the better performers of the now-relegated Tigers since. In view of today’s market prices, paying £8m for such a player isn’t bad business by any means.

He is most likely to replace Alberto Moreno as the backup option for James Milner, though Klopp has shown he’s quite capable of pulling unexpected moves within the squad.
