Liverpool beat Crystal Palace by 2 goals to one thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The win takes them to 2nd – above Manchester United, who are yet to face Swansea later today.
Mohamed Salah – 8:
“Mo Salah, Mo Salah, Mo Salah, running down the wing! Mo Salaaaaaah, the Egyptian king!”
Liverpool’s star winger stole the show (again) with a winner in the 84th minute to make it 29 goals in the Premier League. In the second half, before the goal came in, there were a few chances which he created. In the first half, however, he didn’t do anything significant. Nonetheless, Liverpool fans will give Salah most of the credit for the win.
Roberto Firmino – 7:
The Brazilian forward was very lively during the game, recording 6 shots in the first half compared to Crystal Palace’s 2 shots. He was unlucky to miss all those shots, honestly, but it doesn’t matter a lot since Liverpool won the game.
Sadio Mane – 7:
Mane scored the equalizer in the 49th minute to give Liverpool the energy they needed to go on and win the game. He was booked for diving in the first half (wasn’t a dive), and he nearly got sent off for intentionally touching the ball with his hand because he thought he was fouled, and that is why Jurgen Klopp decided to replace him with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
James Milner – 7:
A terrible performance in the first half is the main reason why he got a rating of 7; he did really well in the second half and assisted Liverpool’s equalizer. He also played a notable role in the build-up to the second one.
Jordan Henderson – 6:
A very similar performance to Milner’s; the captain did really bad in the first half. There was an improvement in the second half, but it was not a very significant one.
Georgino Wijnaldum – 4 :
Wijnaldum had a very bad afternoon, with a performance which lacked any quality whatsoever. The main reason why Liverpool looked vulnerable in the middle.
Trent Alexander Arnold – 5:
Very pale performance from the youngster, looked unsure at times and will take most of the blame for Palace’s build-up to the penalty.
Joel Matip – 5:
Not the performance we all expected from him. Let a lot of balls go over his head and wasn’t there to provide defensive support when needed.
Virgil van Dijk – 6:
An average performance from the Dutchman. Didn’t make a lot of mistakes, really. Did his job and helped out when there was danger for the Liverpool goal.
Andrew Robertson – 8:
Robertson was really, really good this afternoon, and even when the Reds were behind he seemed to be lively and you could see him running around trying to create chances. He eventually provided the assist for the winning goal.
Loris Karius – 5:
Other than the fantastic save early in the game, the German didn’t to anything significant. He gave away a penalty after rushing into Zaha and got himself a yellow card. He didn’t do much in the second half, so the rating is mainly due to the first half performance.
