The former Arsenal man suffered knee ligament damage in the Champions League semi-final against AS Roma, and after successful surgery the hope was he would be back for pre-season. However, now the Echo reporter claims Jurgen Klopp won’t be able to count on the midfielder before November, and that is the best-case scenario.

The long-expected arrival of Naby Keita, along with the return of Adam Lallana, will go some way in providing the manager with options until Ox comes back, but this injury setback and the likely departure of Emre Can mean that a dip into the midfield section of the transfer market this summer will be needed more than had been thought before.
