As the clock struck 9:00 BST, sports fanatics forgot about the U.S Open and the FIFA World Cup for a brief amount of time and turned their attention to the anticipated release of the fixture list for the 2018-19 Premier league season.
Liverpool will open their account at home under Klopp for the first time against Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham outfit, followed by a first away trip to Crystal Palace, and fixtures against Brighton and Leicester, home and away respectively.
September and October sees tough games being navigated against Tottenham, Chelsea and reigning champions Manchester City.
A bumper festive period sees eight games played in 32 days, with games against Everton, North West Rivals Man United and Man City, and tricky travels to the likes of Burnley, Bournemouth and newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A final run-in to the season sees Chelsea travelling to Anfield, with games against potential relegation candidates coming in the form of Cardiff, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Wolves concluding the campaign.
The season commences on the weekend of August 11 and dates are subject to change as broadcasters scramble to choose their packages.
