Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to miss the entire 2018/19 season, Jurgen Klopp has revealed.
In his tackle on Aleksandar Kolarov of AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final, Ox injured his posterior cruciate ligament, anterior crucial ligament (ACL) and medial ligaments, according to James Pearce of Liverpool Echo.
The club have known about the extent of the injury ever since his successful surgery eight days after the game, but at the insistence of Ox himself the information was not to be released, lest it should spoil the mood ahead of the Champions League final.
Given the form he had found, to have Ox miss the entire upcoming campaign is a huge setback.
Let’s all wish him a speedy recovery and hope it doesn’t take long for him to find that kind of form again.
