The Impact of a Harry Wilson loan.

Harry Wilson to be loaned out.

With today’s news that Harry Wilson will be signing a new deal and loaned out to a championship club, it made me think about the potential impact that his loan could have on the rest of the year’s business. As was clear in the champions league final we lacked that back up winger to be able to come on and keep the same intensity as the current front three of Mane, Firmino and Salah. In my eyes I think that the Welsh wizard would be a suitable choice as a backup for the front three. But with the news that he will be loaned it is hard to believe that there will not be another face coming through the doors at Melwood in order to act as cover in the attack positions.

Harry Wilson Vs Chester FC

As seen above, Harry Wilson was on loan at Hull City last season where he had a big impact in the second half of the season scoring 7 goals and 3 assists.

So who could we see instead?

Although I believe that Wilson would be a suitable backup it is not up to me, that choice lands at the feet of Jurgen Klopp and if he has decided his development would be better off at another club next season then who am I to argue. However, I think that this would ultimately lead to a signing in the mould of a winger to add that bit of extra depth to our squad for the coming season. As rumours have been flying about already this summer it seems that the most likely arrival would be that of the Stoke wide man Xherdan Shaqiri.

Shaqiri would arrive with significant experience in the Premier League. He would also be a good player to turn too off the bench if an attacking position needs rotating or if an injury comes into play. There is also the potential arrival of the Nigerian Moses Simon to bolster the ranks at Anfield and he would be a decent cover on the wings to cover for Mane or Salah.

However, I feel that it would be more beneficial to give the chance to Wilson or even Ryan Kent to take the chance in the first team should the opportunity arise. Although I guess we can only wait to see what will occur in the future.
