League and Champions League squads confirmed

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed their Premier League squad as well as their Champions League group stage squads with the most telling of omissions. Serbian Lazar Markovic who hasn’t made a competitive appearance for the club since his debut season of 2014/15 has not been selected despite there being ample room to fit him in. Connor Randall who is currently out on loan is named amongst Liverpool’s home grown contingent.

The Serbian failed to agree a move to Anderlecht last week and rather than be given a slim chance of saving his Liverpool career, Jurgen Klopp has made the decision not to include him within his side despite their being a space. Clubs are required to submit a 25 man squad list for the Premier League with 8 of these being deemed to be home grown. Liverpool named 7 home grown players amongst the squad with Nathaniel Clyne, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson and James Milner named as well as Randall, on loan at Rochdale, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who Jurgen Klopp has said is unlikely to feature at all this season due to the injury suffered towards the end of last season. With the club not required to list players classed as under-21, the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are not named in the squad.

Loris Karius who recently sealed a 2 year loan deal to Turkish side Besiktas and made his debut over the weekend is included in Liverpool’s squad due to his inclusion in the squad against West Ham United on the opening day. Another player who was tipped to leave in the transfer window but stayed was Divock Origi and he has been named in the squad.

The Premier League squad has been confirmed as

Alisson Becker, Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius, Dejan Lovren, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, Alberto Moreno, Nathaniel Clyne, Connor Randall, Naby Keita, Fabinho Tavares, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi.

For the Champions League squad, Liverpool have named a similar squad with the exception of Karius, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Randall. Lierpool can make 3 changes to the squad should they make it through to the knockout stages. As with the Premier League squad, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold do not require registration as they comply with the UEFA regulation of being born on or after January 1st 1997 and being at the club for at least 2 years.

The Champions League squad has been confirmed as

Alisson Becker, Simon Mignolet, Dejan Lovren, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, Alberto Moreno, Nathaniel Clyne, Naby Keita, Fabinho Tavares, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi.
