Naby Keita has been proclaimed “fine” and has been given the all-clear to play against Manchester City.
The midfielder suffered some kind of a back problem early in the Champions League game Liverpool ended up losing 1-0 to Napoli on Wednesday and was stretchered off after 17 minutes.
It seemed rather serious as the Guinean just sat down on the turf on his own accord, with no contact with anyone or the ball being anywhere near him. The club had also confirmed he had been admitted to a local hospital with several precautionary health checks done on him.
However, reasonably reliable sources such as Liverpool Echo and Sky Sports have revealed that Keita has been given the all-clear and might play on Sunday in one of the crucial blockbusters of the season, when Manchester City come to Anfield. This piece of news will be most welcome for the Reds, who remain without the services of two players who could possibly play his role, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana.
Keita will train on Friday, under the watchful eyes of the club’s medical team, and should everything prove fine, he’s expected to play on Sunday.
