The Egyptian missed his country’s second African Cup of Nations qualifier and returned to Liverpool ahead of schedule, he has responded well to treatment and the club medics are now very optimistic about his chances of recovering in time for the upcoming Premier League clash.

Virgil van Dijk is also likely to start at the heart of defence after Holland manager Ronald Koeman released him from playing against Belgium.

Jurgen Klopp still awaits the verdict on winger Sadio Mane and midfielder James Milner, but Naby Keita, who underwent a scan of his hamstring, is likely to sit this one out.

Meanwhile, Adam Lallana is in contention after a long time, as is Daniel Sturridge.
