Klopp’s Pre-Derby Presser

Liverpool are set to face their neighbours on Sunday, and manager Jurgen Klopp spoke to the press ahead of the clash.

In short, Klopp called the Derby a special game, and lamented the lack of time to properly prepare for it. He said Everton are a different team now. He praised his team’s defence, and pointed out the fact that people don’t discuss it as much as they used to, and expressed his happiness with the Premier League performances so far. However, he also said there’s still a lot of work to be done and improvements to be made.

Speaking about Everton manager Marco Silva, Klopp pointed out that this was the best Everton squad he has faced so far since his arrival in October 2015. He mentioned players like Bernard, Mina, Gomes, Keane, and added that Pickford is England’s No.1. He compared Lucas Digne to a young Leighton Baines. In his opinion, were they playing in any other league, Everton would be a European team.

About the game on Wednesday, Klopp said he wasn’t happy with what either team did, and added that they would have liked to play against Paris Saint-Germain again straight away. He stressed the importance of reacting to the defeat in the right way, but he doesn’t expect an easy game. He believes it will be a proper fight and that derbies should always be like that.
