January Transfer Rumour Roundup

As 2018 draws to a close, the Reds sit pretty at the top of the league table. However, that also means that the winter transfer window is around the corner. With that, here’s a roundup of all the transfer rumours so far.

Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke is set to depart the club this January with a host of clubs chasing his signature. Huddersfield and Fulham want the youngster for the second half of the season, while Brighton is believed to be pursuing a permanent deal.

However, it’s Crystal Palace that are the ones leading the chase for the England U21’s signature. With Brighton often playing a lone striker, Solanke believes he has more of a chance at the Eagles which tend to play two strikers. Having not made a single appearance for the Reds this season, Solanke can ill-afford swapping clubs only to find himself not playing regularly.

Elsewhere, Nathaniel Clyne is close to sealing a loan switch to Cardiff City, according to the Daily Mirror. The 27-year old has been plagued by injury problems off late, resulting in him losing out to Trent-Alexander Arnold in being Klopp’s first choice right back.

Having made just 4 competitive appearances this season, including a 90 minute outing against Manchester United, Clyne is understandably keen to gain more competitive minutes. Whether Klopp deem the Englishman surplus to requirements is another matter, considering the limited defensive options he has currently.

Though the above players are linked with a move away from Liverpool, the club has no intentions of recruiting anyone this winter. This is after rumours claiming that the Reds have tabled a bid of £45 million for Christian Pulisic had turned out to false.

Klopp, who tried to sign the 20-year old for £11 million two seasons ago, is reportedly happy with his current squad, hence ruling out a January move for Pulisic. Chelsea and Arsenal are the other clubs interested in the American international, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2020.
