Mohamed Salah – What can we make of his goal drought?
Rival fans calling him a one season wonder.
The truth is he hasn’t got one, considering he’s provided 17 goals and 7 assists this season which leaves him sitting comfortably 1 goal behind Sergio Aguero.
The worst thing Mo Salah ever done was have that amazing season last year because I think it left people expecting him to repeat it and it gives our rivals a lousy excuse to try insult him/us this season.
Mo obviously sets himself really high standards, the reaction to getting subbed off vs Fulham was evidence to this. The man obviously wants to get that elusive 50th goal and it breaks my heart seeing the man look so frustrated.
So where does that leave him?
Well I for one personally think that international break will have served Mo well, he didn’t have any duties with Egypt and as such he got to recharge his batteries and prepare himself mentally for the last stretch of this season.
This Sunday we have an impending match vs Tottenham on the 31st of March. A game which I think he might get his tally going again considering he had scored 3 goals against them last term. A revitalized Mo Salah could prove the difference in what is another important game.
We also have the upcoming fixture vs FC Porto on the 9th of April. We all remember that unbelievable effort against them last year during our run in the champion’s league. It was the one where after Millie’s shot rattled the post, Mo controlled it with one touch, flicked it over the keeper and then used his head to control it before calmly slotting it away.
I believe in Mohamed Salah
I don’t think a brief goal drought warrants any of the nonsense spoken about him, the stats of 49 goals and 17 assists in 67 league games is crazy for a man that is a right winger turned striker. We will see last years most lethal man before this season is out and whether its in the league or the champions league it won’t matter because he’s our EGYPTIAN KING.
