That night in Anfield

Greatest comeback ever ?

Abso darn lutely !

We’re going to Madrid.

Well ladies and gentlemen I still can’t believe what I witnessed, I’m lost in this feeling of pure euphoria and to be brutally honest I hope it doesn’t go away. Our team of beautiful beings have given us a night to remember for the rest of our lives.

I can’t help but actually have a little laugh to myself, in my last article I had made a point of what it’d be like facing the older seasoned version of Lionel Messi and in the first leg of this tie he proved what we all knew, He is one of the greatest players ever but and I mean a very big BUT I also mentioned how the second leg in Anfield was to be a tough fixture, well I’ll tell you one thing for free folks coming back from a 3-0 deficit definitely seemed like the tougher task on paper.

I think it’s fair to say that some respect has to put on Mr. Klopp and our players names, to not only score four goals against that Barcelona team but to do it without Mo Salah, Bobby Firmino, Naby Keita and Oxlade Chamberlain. When you think of the teams around the world with all their star names, if you take them out of the team have they got the quality in the side to step up and prove themselves ?

I don’t want to take anything away from the squad for what they achieved but I think special plaudits should go to Divock because the young man has had to work extra hard to prove to Klopp that he still has what it takes to play for the club. After a tough last few years he’s certainly proved himself with a few big goals this season namely the two hes just bagged vs Barcelona and now we can imagine that he’ll be given a new contract.

So now we’ve a second champions league final to play in and in consecutive seasons which is a great testament to the team again, the final this year will be the first one since 2013 that doesn’t feature a Spanish team and it’ll also be the first time its held in the Wanda Metropolitano home to Atletico Madrid. In 2018 UEFA announced that there could be a fourth substitute used in extra time and that the bench would extend from 7 to 12 players, kick off time has changed from 20:45 CEST to 21:00 CEST and the finally this will be the first final to feature the VAR system.

“This club touches you like crazy, it’s like you feel much more than others in these moments. It’s really great, I love it.” – Jurgen Klopp
