Liverpool going in for Minamino

Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal to sign Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg, according to James Pearce, formerly of Liverpool Echo, now with The Athletic.

David Maddock, Mirror’s most reliable journalist when it comes to Liverpool, says the same, adding that the move makes sense not only in football matters but it also complies with the club’s wish for a bigger presence in the Far East.

As for the football reasons, the addition of the 24-year-old Japanese international seems like one of the very few pieces of the puzzle still missing from the Liverpool squad. An incredibly disciplined player, immensely talented, creative and dangerous going forward which can finally be the one to provide Klopp with a great option in the attacking part of the midfield, or on either attacking flank.

At less than £8 million, it is certainly a bargain.
