Liverpool refuse to loan Shaqiri to Roma
As reported by numerous sources, AS Roma contacted Liverpool on Monday to see if they could possibly get the services of Xherdan Shaqiri on loan for the rest of the season, due to their Nicolo Zaniolo suffering an injury. The answer that came from Anfield was clear – no.

Shaqiri has never been able to establish himself as a regular member of the starting XI under Jurgen Klopp, but his contribution to what has been achieved since his arrival from Stoke City in 2018 has been immense. Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is probably still dreading a deflected shot from him as he prepares to come to Anfield on Sunday, while a Shaqiri cross towards Georginio Wijnaldum is likely a regular feature in the worst nightmares of any Barcelona fan.
It’s perfectly clear that Klopp doesn’t want to lose any of the squad depth at his disposal halfway through the season, especially a player who has proven himself a worthy backup option, when the long-awaited Premier League title seems within Liverpool’s grasp. Further more, the boss recently said Shaqiri’s future was at Liverpool.
